A word about American police

The relationship between American policing and racist, white supremacists, KKKers, and the like has been with us a long time.

Florida historian J. Michael Denham has documented that prior to the 1950s not a single sheriff in Florida was not a member of the KKK. And for many years later a good number of Florida sheriffs have been violent racist bigots (think Willis McCall).

In a recent article in Christian Ethics Today I mentioned that one police reform action that is called for today is a more focused selection process for the recruitment and selection of police officers. The truth is that a good number of police officers and leaders in America today are more connected to Trumpism and white supremacy than they are to American values such as equal protection of laws.

They must be removed and rejected from the ranks of law enforcers.
