Why the refugees in Darfur<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
must barely cling to life,<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
and why the dispossessed in Iraq<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
must live as if there is no life,<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
cannot be answered or explained<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
in any satisfactory manner.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
Why the older woman who <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
was once so full of life and dignity<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
is now only a shell of her former self,<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
and why those whose lives are lived <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
in suffering and anguish because of the<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
diseases that attack their bodies<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
must continue to breathe their painful breaths,<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
I cannot say.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
There is meaning . . . there must be . . .<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
though the meaning and the answers<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
cannot be provided by any<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
theological statement that I can find.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
The meaning and the answers<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
must wait in agonizing and prolonged suspension<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
for another day and another life<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
when all must be made clear.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
The whys remain as we<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
hold on tenaciously, precariously<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
