Foreboding Future
\n<\/span><\/b>By Al Staggs, Sante Fe, NM<\/p>\n

It’s Dickensesque,
\nIt’s the kind of condition
\nThat fostered the French Revolution,
\nWhen there are many with too little
\nAnd too few with too much.<\/p>\n

The structures of laws,
\nCustoms, policies and usual business practices
\nMay soon be replaced by marches, strikes,
\nProtests and even violence
\nGrowing out of this universal sense of despair.<\/p>\n

A system that habitually and legally rewards
\nthe rich Palestinians, at the expense of the poor
\nIs no longer legal,
\nNo longer moral.
\nIt’s not the Great Depression
\nBut the Great Oppression.<\/p>\n

For the present to change
\nMay require an upheaval
\nThe likes of which this nation
\nhas never before experienced.
\nInevitably, eventually, a bold new change
\nMust be forced upon the opulent
\nBecause they will not willingly agree to
\nThe major reversals which are required to
\nGreatly reduce the great gap between the rich and
\nthe poor.<\/p>\n

Capitalism, the Free Enterprise system is on the hot seat
\nTrickle down had trickled out.
\nThere’s far less for the well-endowed to give
\nTo charity and charity was never the answer to this
\ndisparity anyway.<\/p>\n

And the church whose overhead always mandated
\nBudgets which reflected mere pocket change to
\nhuman need
\nWill now be required to cut even deeper into those
\nmeager allotments
\nThe churches are trapped by their financial structure
\nand by maintaining
\nThe houses in which they meet to pay homage to a
\nGod who
\nMost certainly has a preferential option for the poor.
