margin-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Out of love and concern for the truth  <\/p>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal; margin-left: 40px;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">1.<span style=\"font-size:7pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">When our Lord and Master  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">2.<span style=\"font-size:7pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">The word cannot be properly understood as referring to the sacrament of penance  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">3.<span style=\"font-size:7pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Yet its meaning is not restricted to repentance in one`s heart; for such repentance is null unless it produces outward signs in various mortifications of the flesh.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">4.<span style=\"font-size:7pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">As long as hatred of self abides (i.e. true inward repentance) the penalty of sin abides  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">5.<span style=\"font-size:7pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">The pope has neither the will nor the power to remit any penalties beyond those imposed either at his own discretion or by canon law.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">6.<span style=\"font-size:7pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">The pope himself cannot remit guilt  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">7.<span style=\"font-size:7pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">God never remits guilt to anyone without  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">8.<span style=\"font-size:7pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">46.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Christians should be taught that  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">47.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Christians should be taught that they purchase indulgences voluntarily  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">48.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Christians should be taught that  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">49.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Christians should be taught that the pope`s indulgences are useful only if one does not rely on them  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">50.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Christians should be taught that  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">51.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Christians should be taught that the pope would be willing  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">52.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">It is vain to rely on salvation by letters of indulgence  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">53.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Those are enemies of Christ and the pope who forbid the word of God continue to be said? And why does not the pope repay  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">84.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Again: Surely this is a new sort of compassion  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">85.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Again: Why are the penitential canon laws  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">86.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Again: since the pope`s income to-day is larger than that of the wealthiest of wealthy men  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">87.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Again: What does the pope remit or dispense to people who  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">88.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Again: Surely a greater good could be done to the church if the pope were to bestow these remissions and dispensations  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">89.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">What the pope seeks by indulgences is not money  <\/p>\n<div style=\" margin-left:.25in;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">90.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">These questions are serious matters of conscience to the laity.
