These days I punctuate my afternoons with prayer, invoking<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

The God of years gone<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

But hardly forgotten. Far-off times when candles were lit,<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

Entreaties made, and love beseeched<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

Before the altar rail: Oxford Cathedral, hilary term, 1991.<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

You were closer to me then, I guess, and more than any time since.<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

So today I kneel, clasp my hands, and keen heavenward.<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

Praying, thinking, hoping<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

To bring you nearer still.<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n
